The Mexican Academy of Sciences AMC is an active participant in the international program and a member of the IYL2015 National Committee for the International Year of Light.

Through this blog the AMC invites members, colleagues and students to join us on the year activities and propose new projects and activities.

The International Year of Light is an initiative adopted by the United Nations on December 2013, at its 68th Annual Meeting. In IYL 2015 activities are planned in a wide range of themes aimed at informing and attracting interest on light and light-based technologies and how these technologies impact on the challenges of societies on energy, agriculture, communications health, technological innovations and everyday life.

The IYL 2015 programs involve international and national organizations, science academies and scientific societies from different countries in a broad trans-disciplinary and comprehensive program on light.

The year 2015 marks several anniversaries of discoveries and scientific and technological developments related to light over more than 1,000 years.

Welcome to the Academy blog on the IYL 2015!
