International Council for Science, ICSU

The ICSU in a non-government organization created in 1931 to encourage international scientific activity and its applications for the benefit of humanity. The ICSU has two membership categories: national members (science academies and research councils) and international scientific unions. Together, these groups provide the experience required to address interdisciplinary issues of common interest such as data and scientific information exchange, the development of scientific and technological norms, science teaching and the ethics and responsibilities of scientists.

Since September 2002, the AMC has represented Mexico’s presence at the ICSU, as it agreed to do after CONACYT stepped down.
